Job Description
Position: Associate Pastor
Purpose: The Associate Pastor is directly accountable to the Senior Pastor under the authority of the
Pastor Elder Board. The Associate Pastor provides spiritual oversight to the body of Central Chapel and
in conjunction with the lead Pastor serves as a Shepherd of this flock through preaching of the Word,
discipleship, and relationship-building.
Qualifications:
1. A born-again man that humbly exemplifies a spirit-filled walk and a life of integrity as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
2. Demonstrates a genuine love for the Lord and the Church with a servant’s heart.
3. Minimum education requirement of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Bible College or equivalent experience.
4. Must be ordained by a Bible-believing church of like faith and in complete agreement of Central Chapel’s Statement of Faith.
5. Proven verbal and written communication skills.
6. Proven public speaking and preaching abilities.
Responsibilities:
1. Administration
a. In conjunction with the lead Pastor, will provide supervision and oversight of all paid ministerial and administrative staff, and volunteer/servant ministry leaders.
b. To regularly meet individually with each of the aforementioned positions and to disciple and lead each accordingly with the assistance of the elders and lead Pastor.
c. Will serve as a member of the Pastor Elder Board.
d. Will plan, delegate, and constructively help others in carrying out the mission of Central Chapel.
e. Will encourage and advise the committees and in organizing events that are needed to properly execute the ministry.
f. Participates in counseling, shepherding, shut-in visitation, hospital visitation, newcomer visitation, etc.
2. Worship
a. In conjunction with the lead Pastor, he will serve as a preaching pastor and will ensure, with assistance from the Pastor Elder Board, that preaching responsibilities are covered in the case of absence.
b. Will ensure, with assistance from the Pastor Elder Board, that all services conducted at Central Chapel are appropriately staffed.
3. Prayer and personal growth
a. Practice and encourage prayer within the Church.
b. Continue to grow in sanctification by studying the Scriptures and being accountable to the other members of the Pastor Elder Board.
c. Commit to regular prayer for the Church Body.
