Job Description

Riverwind Church Student Life Minister Job Summary: The Student Life Minister is responsible for encouraging the spiritual growth of the children God has placed within our church to become fully functioning followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that this is accomplished by partnering with parents in the discipleship of their children. The candidate for this ministry will be gifted by being able to minister to children in every stage of growth from K-12th grade. This will include the planning and implementation of weekly children’s services as well as special youth events and programs designed to keep students engaged more than one day per week.

Ministry Purpose: To proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the truth and inerrancy of the Bible, to promote the building of students’ Christian worldview, and to implement planning the administrative aspects of the Student Life Ministry and services to the church and community.

Service Relationships: The Student Life Minister is under the direction of the Senior Pastor and reports to the Director of Administration

Job Type: Full time position based on 40 hours per week

Compensation: Competitive annual salary based upon education and experience

Primary Responsibilities: Pastoral/Leadership

Provide leadership for the Riverwind Kids Ministry and the GenLight Ministry teams.
Promote children experience personal worship and praise through weekly teaching and church activities.
Provide Pastoral Ministry with the Student Life Ministry family (students, parents of students and outside youth leaders) and coordinate the training of others to do likewise.
Assist with outside youth leadership in providing opportunities for members of the youth ministry family to be directly involved in missions and ministry – both locally and outside the community.
Coordinate the enlisting, discipling, training and motivating of adults to serve in youth ministry.
Share the gospel with lost youth/students and lost parents on an ongoing basis, both individually and cooperatively.
Network with other evangelical youth leaders in the community to support youth in starting and strengthening school campus ministries.
Assist with other pastoral duties at the request of the Senior Pastor
Administrative

Coordinate the weekly Student Life services.
Select (under the advice of the Elders) and implement the overall youth curriculum plan for the church for a balanced comprehensive Christian education to Students.
Coordinate and implement an annual Student Life Ministry budget proposal, and administer that budget as approved by the Elders/Church Members.
Create and implement an overall youth evangelism strategy for the church.
Coordinate and oversee student and family events aimed at both ministering to church membership as well as those in the surrounding community.
Implement and maintain communication with parents, volunteers and the larger community through various forms of media (e.g. social media, email, website, etc.)
Qualifications and Requirements:

Demonstrates a mature walk with God and is actively pursuing a life of holiness
Bachelor in Biblical Studies or M.Div preferred
1-2 years experience in a lead teaching role preferred
Experience in leading and developing healthy ministry
Experience in evangelism and discipleship, especially targeting youth
Self-motivated in networking and relationship building
Team player and willing to assist other ministry leaders/staff when needed
A member of the Riverwind Church or willing and able to become a member
