Job Description

​Established in 1883, First Baptist Church of Dawson, Texas is a small-town church with a big heart and mission. We are looking for a Pastor to lead our small congregation and help us grow – spiritually and in numbers. We affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and the 1689 London Baptist Confession. The Pastor is the only paid staff member, although we have at times, had other part-time staff. Our worship is biblically regulated with scripture readings, prayer, singing, and preaching. Our music is blended and gospel centered.
Our facilities consist of a worship center/education building (built in 1954 and often remodeled); a Life Center with education space, large kitchen, large fellowship room/auditorium with stage; and a youth building. The church property contains an open playground, covered picnic area, soccer field, and tennis court.​ The church also has another property being used for a thrift store and ministry to the community two blocks from the main campus.
The church owns a brick 3-bedroom parsonage and a package including housing, utilities, travel, and insurance is negotiable.

“The pastor, as Christ’s under-shepherd of the church, is responsible to God for leading and equipping the body to function as a New Testament church. The pastor shall lead the congregation, the organizations, and the church staff to perform their ministries. He is to carry out the call of God to shepherd the flock.” (FBC Dawson Constitution & Bylaws)

Duties include:

· Preach and teach the Word of God
· Provide biblical, prayerful leadership
· Minister to church members and the community in service and evangelism
· Equip church members to do the ministry of the church
