Job Description

Position Summary
The Director of Children’s Ministries at The King’s Chapel is a godly, humble leader who joyfully serves Christ by shepherding children and equipping families in alignment with the church’s mission: people awakened to a holy God. This role exists to faithfully execute gospel-centered discipleship for children, helping them grow in the knowledge, fear, and love of God through His Word. The Director of Children’s Ministries demonstrates strong organizational, communication, and recruiting skills, effectively managing details while working independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

Key Responsibilities
Ministry Leadership & Development
-Direct the development, planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of a comprehensive, biblically based children’s educational ministry for ages from birth to 5th grade.
-Develop and implement gospel-centered discipleship strategies for children in partnership with families.
-Collaborate with elders, staff members, and volunteers to provide a well-rounded program of teaching, music, and recreation for children.

Volunteer & Staff Leadership
-Recruit, train, coordinate, and supervise children’s life group teachers, ministry leaders, and volunteers.
-Plan, coordinate, and conduct regular teacher training and parent/teacher training sessions. This includes working with each teacher and volunteer to complete all safety training and coordinating that training.
-Oversee, train, and coordinate any contract childcare employees.

Program Oversight & Events
-Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of major children’s ministry activities such as Vacation Bible School and Fall Festival.
-Help lead the Adventure Club program, including volunteer training, supply and curriculum ordering, and Adventure Club schedules.
-Assist with the Children’s Choir by coordinating with the Pastor of Music and Worship.

Administration & Communication
-Review, select, and order curriculum and educational tools in a timely manner.
-Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, purchasing as needed.
-Develop and manage an annual ministry budget and calendar.
-Submit ministry highlights, advertisements, and information for the weekly church newsletter and family meetings.
-Demonstrate proficiency with technology, media, and standard office systems and planning tools.

Additional Responsibilities
-Attend regular staff meetings and staff functions
-Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Characteristics
-A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the mission and values of The King’s Chapel.
-A calling to children’s ministry and a heart for partnering with families in discipleship.
-Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
-Ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers effectively.
-Proficiency with technology and church management tools.
-BA/BS or official ministry training is preferred.
-Previous children’s ministry experience is required.

Position Details
Status: Full-time
Schedule: Includes Sundays and occasional evenings for events and trainings
Reports to: Associate Pastor of Ministries
