Job Description
FBC Shepherdsville is a small but growing church south of the Louisville Metro area. We are seeking a part-time Minister of Music to lead our music for worship gatherings each week. This is a very part-time role as the church is in a season of revitalization and reformation. Total compensation will be $12,000/year with an expected 8-10 hours of work each week. Below is our church’s philosophy of music in worship:
The role of the Minister of Music is of vital importance as a leader and aid in the corporate gathering of the body of Christ at FBC Shepherdsville. Under the direction of and in coordination with the Senior Pastor, the Minister of Music shall exercise leadership over the musical worship in the corporate gathering times at FBC Shepherdsville. Song selection should be Biblically based, theologically sound, and promote and encourage unified congregational singing. FBC Shepherdsville does not structure its service as a “concert” model, but rather as a “congregational” model. This means when it comes to music, the emphasis is on the voices of the people participating together. In terms of music style, FBC Shepherdsville utilizes hymns –
both old and new. We draw from the great hymns of the faith in antiquity as well as modern writers such as the Gettys, Sovereign Grace Music, Citylight, and others of like-mindedness. The Minister of Music will be part of the staff at FBC Shepherdsville and is therefore expected to participate in the culture and organization of the church in an appropriate manner.
Some previous experiences leading music are desired. The ability to play an instrument is not required, but it is helpful. Must be able to sing and lead confidently.
